McCain Makes His Choice

This is kinda weird, wonder if this story will get legs...

Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always."

Lynette Clark, the chairman of the AIP, tells ABC News that Palin and her husband Todd were members in 1994, even attending the 1994 statewide convention in Wasilla. Clark was AIP secretary at the time.

..."My own separate opinion as an individual is that we should be an independent nation," Clark says. Others in the AIP "believe that being a commonwealth would be a good avenue to follow." Some advocate statehood -- but a fuller statehood than exists now.

The Alaskan Independence Party's goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:

1) Remain a Territory.
2) Become a separate and Independent Nation.
3) Accept Commonwealth status.
4) Become a State.

Gov. Palin didn't spend enough time talking to her daughter and being involved in her life to keep the kid from getting knocked up....how is she supposed to be there for them as VP?

This is going to turn out to be the biggest mistake Mccain ever made. Picking a woman VP candidate...GENIUS. Picking Sarah Palin.....not so much.

I think sometimes kids end up being pregnant because they have bad parents who don't teach them right from wrong. But sometimes very good parents have kids that get into trouble too. Shit happens. We all make mistakes. I wouldn't be one to heap criticism on her, out of hand, for this incident without knowing all the facts...

I find it amusing how many Democrats are willing to put Hussein Obama on an alter, idolize him, make him their candidate and look the other way on his lack of experience. Yet the GOP chooses a woman (something the Democrats didn't have the sense or balls to do)and people are screaming about her lack of experience. I think she is EXACTLY what we need in DC. Someone not enmired in all the good old boy, business as usual, no real difference in either party other than what group do they sacrifice the middle class to...Soccer mom? Maybe we need a soccer mom at the helm (although she is only running for V/P, maybe we need a soccer mom "on the team")

And you never know with those crazy Republicans -all family values-ish in public, but doing what they tell everyone else not to do when not pointing their fingers at others.

I've actually considered being a foster parent, though I don't know how Hamilton County would deal with someone like me.
